Big, but not 'massive'...

The two yellow characters make the space in the image look very big, but the foreground details sort of ruin the illusion. Specifically, the hair-like things that protrude away from the audience toward the crash are not structured like the 10-foot-long objects they would need to be if those two characters are human. Also, the shelf they are standing on looks almost like a book. It's too defined to be massive.

Otherwise, you pulled off the illusion of hugeness perfectly. The perspective is awesome, letting us know that everything not in the foreground is far away and colossal. Excellent work: only the foreground needs improvement.

Aggressive! :-)

The other Abby was softer, a little more nonchalant. This Abby looks like she's ready to go to war! The bronze color really adds to that effect, surreal background or no. The two drawings are completely different pieces, not at all derivative. Great stuff!

Awesome!

I might have expected a deeper, brighter red somewhere, but this shading is still fantastic!

Mischie responds:

Thank you. I was looking at more references of cooling magma, than hot magma, to show more contrast.

Fantastic

Excellent rendering, keep up the work in fractals.

(P.S. It would be just 5% better if you antialiased your image.)

Viamede responds:

i agree, low res versions of this look much better because there aren't any stray white pixels. wish i knew how to fix it :3

Very Pixar

This is one of those really interesting shots where you double-think yourself into enjoying looking at it. I mean, we're not fooled: this is clearly a 3D model, but our minds look past that and become so engrossed in the characters and their actions that the medium is completely moot. The use of only four colors (white, grey, blue, red) in your materials is also very nice, and the models are actually pretty low-detail, but the image is still so captivating. I really like it!

dimitrikozma responds:

Thanks m1kclark!
I really appreciate your review. So complete and joyful! :-)

Awesome!

To have that model at all is really an achievement. Doing it as a low-poly model? That's genius. Well done!

Woah!

Seriously, if you put a photo in the background, then I don't know if I would have noticed this was 3D and not a photo. The reflection map on the silver is great: really real looking. The only things that don't look exactly right (and I can't even say why) is the wood on the receiver and the cord. But the flaw is not so noticeable that I would have noticed with a good background. Awesome!

MarcyVF responds:

Thanks! :)
I hhave to credit Dave Davidson for the great awesome reflective material. But materials in 3D is really really hard! I don't know how I should have made the wood better. Maybe a clearer wood texture? Larger specular? Experimenting...

Fantastic concept

I like this piece a lot, particularly the idea. Excellent color contrast. The stark difference between the objects and the amorphous background.

One comment: you can see the polygons on the human figure. They should be smoothed out because, right now, they distract the audience and remind everyone that this was rendered by a computer.

gleegleep responds:

Thank you for the review. I'm glad you like this! And thanks for the suggestion about smoothing the human figure.

I don't spend much time here anymore, but it's nice to see the site still with its wide spread of user-generated content.
